Thank you to Moses Viveros for serving on FFEN’s Board of Directors for the last year.
Moses recently moved to Seattle and accepted a position as the Program Executive for Food Access for the YMCA of Greater Seattle.
During their time with FFEN, Moses played a key role in advocating for the inclusion of the voice of the shopper in the work FFEN does with food shelves. They also participated in the program committee, hearing from food shelf partners about ways FFEN can improve.
As Moses settles in Seattle, they said they see the need for FFEN-like services elsewhere in the country. The key to providing those services, Moses said, is to have a board of directors that includes a variety of different voices, perspectives and lived experiences – something they championed for at FFEN.
“FFEN is a pretty unique organization, and it can serve as a model for an organization that can pop up in other states,” Moses said.
Moses said they enjoy how FFEN brings the hunger relief sector together to share space and knowledge with one another.
“We all have the same mission, to eradicate hunger, if we come together and share these resources and knowledge, we can get a lot closer to that,” Moses said. “It opens the doors to other stakeholders, government leaders and community members to join the conversation.”
