With food shelf demand set to reach a record high this year, your support of FFEN couldn’t be more critical. Currently, FFEN is working with over 50 local food shelves to help them navigate this challenging environment. Your support of FFEN provides them with strategic consultation and professional development for effective food sourcing and service improvement. The impact for communities is increased food access, particularly fresh food, and improved organizational sustainability.
An example of this important work can be found in a northwest suburb of the Twin Cities with the relatively new Task Force Inc. Food Shelf. This food shelf formed out of the COVID-19 pandemic in response to local demand for culturally connected foods. FFEN staff and skilled volunteers quickly helped Task Force leaders navigate the complex and changing environment of hunger relief and confirm standard best practices for food shelf operation.
To increase the food items that shoppers most want (fresh produce, dairy and meat), FFEN partnered with Horizon Equipment to provide a cooler at no cost. In addition to the new cooler, FFEN is consulting with Task Force leaders to implement sourcing and distribution changes that keep the cooler fresh, full and abundant for their shoppers.
Your gift this holiday season will provide necessary support to food shelves to meet the needs in their community. FFEN’s critical no-cost consulting paired with equipment, like with Task Force, will be provided to even more food shelves across MN. Your gift today, in any amount, will make this possible and help us meet our end of the year goal of $18,000.Happy Holidays!
