As she completed her master’s degree in computer science at Northeastern University, Ruixin Li was looking for a way to connect with an NGO or nonprofit organization.

Li found an opening at FFEN and began this month as a data analysis and visualization intern.

“Even though I’m not volunteering inside the food shelf, it’s an opportunity for me to contribute my knowledge to help people,” she said.

Li, who lives in Boston, is excited to put the skills she developed in the classroom to work in a professional setting. She enjoys working with data in many forms and appreciates how projects evolve—from spreadsheets to graphs and other visualizations.

“I feel like I’ve achieved something when I can see the progress as I work with data,” she said.

Outside of work, Li enjoys playing video games, going to the movies once or twice a week, and exploring Boston with a camera in hand.
