Hello! My name is Chaleiah and I am a Fellow with the Move for America Fellowship program. Move for America is an organization that allows young prospects to gain professional and leadership experiences while bridging divides and engaging in civic dialogue. Since high school I have been active in community work and providing help or resources to those in need. I recently graduated with my Bachelors in Gender and Women’s studies with the plan of centering my work around BIPOC communities in the future.
What is the focus of your work at FFEN?
The focus of my work at FFEN will be working closely with FFEN staff and other partners on content and research to support more engagement in statewide surveys and using that data to support action. Using my background in community engagement work to think about how we can use this to involve voices in the community.
What most interested you about FFEN?
What most interested me about FFEN is working with a community that’s important and I want to learn more about. Food accessibility is an important aspect of community engagement to me and I hope to assist with filling the gaps in the communities around Minnesota regarding food insecurity.
What are you most excited about in your role?
I am most excited to get to know tons of food shelves across Minnesota and the culture they have.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I love watching moves, hanging out my dog and niece, or listening to music.
